You won’t find a separate “green” division within PortionPac because our entire company is committed to creating the world’s most sustainable solutions for clean buildings. Our goal has always been to minimize our environmental footprint by reducing the energy used in production and distribution, the adverse effect of cleaning detergents on the environment and the unsafe and ineffectiveness of improper cleaning procedures.
Concentrated Formulations. Manufacturing, packaging, shipping and disposing of ready-to-use bottles or low concentrate multi-gallon drums and pails or other traditional detergent containers are a major waste of energy and resources. PortionPac’s highly concentrated formulations and our expertise in product consolidation saves energy in shipping and storage while dramatically reducing the number and volume of cleaning materials entering the waste stream.
Safer Formulations. Since our inception PortionPac has focused on providing formulations designed for maximum safety. More recently, our efforts have been confirmed by Green Seal™. Representing the most demanding and extensive certification a company can seek, Green Seal is a non-profit organization and industry leader in third-party evaluation since 1989. While there isn’t a definitive Green Seal protocol for evaluating our entire product line, every single PortionPac floor cleaner, all-purpose detergent, bowl cleaner and glass cleaner has received Green Seal Certification (and more PortionPac products are being reviewed for certification).
Waste Reduction. PortionPac not only manufactures products that are safer for the environment, but we also utilize simple color-coded systems allowing facilities to be cleaned easier and faster with fewer products. The average PortionPac account uses ½ the number of different products normally used in our industry. This reduction has demonstrated dramatic environmental benefits in major national accounts and thousands of school food service departments.
It’s been more than 40 years since PortionPac pioneered the concept of highly concentrated, liquid detergents in single-use Pacs, but our constant and conscientious innovation has never stopped. We continue to improve our green cleaning products, develop educational programs that encourage and simplify accurate use, and devise smarter distribution systems to further reduce waste and the unnecessary use of chemicals. In doing this, we’ve influenced the entire cleaning industry and our high-concentrate revolution of 1964 continues to this day in commercial and institutional products worldwide.
