Hey, hey!! It's that time again...Earth Day 2012
We have been writing a Connection about Earth Day every year since it started in 1970. There have been many interesting and encouraging changes through the years but I know many of you are disappointed by the slow rate of change. So, this year I would like offer two encouraging facts plus an idea for your Earth Day program next week.

Keeping Up With the World
For those of us who have been around our industry for many years it is sort of amazing how fast it is changing.* And a lot of the changes are originating outside our domestic market. When I started in our industry in 1956, the company I worked for exported cleaning equipment around the world; however, now many foreign manufacturers, distributors and contractors are developing excellent programs in everything from infection control to sustainability.

Our industry has had many dedicated and creative leaders but only one has devoted his business career to enhance and improve our industry…and in turn helped everyone who works in “cleaning.”

At last...our industry is finally catching up with you!
You would think that the concept of portion control detergents would be easily understood and that every product and procedure that could benefit from pre-measured packaging would already have dominated the world’s markets. But that is not the case. And, unfortunately, systems that encourage improper or over mixing are still dominant. Some countries, like the United Kingdom, are ahead of the United States where only a small percentage of the retail and commercial market are using pre-measured products.
